Large-scale aeolian cross beds in the Jurassic Navajo Sandstone, Zion National Park, Utah. Festoon cross beds such as these are the most prominent sedimentary structure associated with sand dunes. Can you tell which way the prevailing winds were blowing when these sand dunes were deposited?
