Clerical:

  • New quizzes are posted. They should all be posted by the end of the day.

    Themes of the Day:

    • Waste Management
    • Air Pollution

    Group Projects

    • Prepare a short (10-15 slide) presentation (please use Google Presentations rather than PowerPoint) that describes a case study of Waste Management or Air Pollution in the USA
    • Where is the study located? (Use Google Earth and the clipping tool to give an overview of location and regional features.)
    • What sort of contamination/environmental hazard is/was it? How was it detected? How does/did it threaten humans or the environment? Relate your case study to material from your textbook (Chapter 16 figures, Chapter 17 figures).
    • What is the cause of the contamination/pollution? Was it natural or human-induced? If the latter, who was responsible for it?
    • What is the geology/geography of the area and how does it affect the contamination/pollution?
    • How was (is) the contamination/pollution (being) remediated/cleaned up?
    • What environmentally sound practices/laws could have been undertaken before the problem arose that would have avoided the threat?
