    Lithification

  • Diagenesis - processes by which a sediment is transformed into a sedimentary rock
    • Compaction - decrease in pore space - often due to burial
    • Cementation - mineral "glue" fills in remaining pore spaces
    • Dissolution/precipitation by pore waters
    • Recrystallization (but not too much)
